The bio-soluble blanket is a flexible insulating material that can be adapted to the appropriate curved surface. In the outdoor oven, selection includes not only temperature but also layer retention and its cover. Before purchase, determine which material is intended in the specific oven cross-section.
Choose the precisely labeled variant
Vitcas Bio Soluble Fibre Blanket is made from fibres based on calcium and magnesium silicates. For the discussed variant, the manufacturer specifies resistance up to 1200°C. Do not transfer this value to every material generally referred to as oven insulation blanket.
Ceramic fibre blanket is a separate group of products. Compare the composition, format, and instructions of the selected material if the design allows for a change. Similar appearance of rolls does not confirm identical cutting, fastening, or application conditions.
Maintain the planned layer
Indicate the course of insulation, joints between blanket strips, and terminations at the entrance on the drawing. The material should retain the thickness provided in the system. Do not compress it accidentally with fastening and do not stretch a thin section to cover a missing surface.
Determine what retains the blanket before closing the casing and afterward. The finishing layer requires its own support. Simply applying flexible insulation to the chamber does not create a substrate for any heavy mortar or cladding.
Protect the material from moisture
The manufacturer indicates that moisture can affect the properties of the insulation. Check the casing ends and water entry points, including at the base. Covering the dome from above does not automatically solve the problem of an open edge at the bottom.
When fitting, follow the safety data sheet for the specific variant; the designation biosoluble does not justify handling the dust indiscriminately. Record the product, thickness, and layer arrangement, and take a photo before closing. Subsequent inspection will then concern the actual insulation, not just the declared temperature rating of the blanket.
