The glass fibre tape provides a flat seal, different from a round rope. For the smoker door or another device, the selection should result from the specific connection. The self-adhesive backing helps with installation but does not have the same parameters as the fibres.
Compare the format with the mounting location
Black Vitcas glass fibre tape is described, among other things, for appropriate connections around stove glass. Transferring it to another device requires substrate, pressure, and temperature compatibility. Do not assume that every flat gap requires the same width.
When cold, check the supporting surface, corners and arrangement of the tape ends. Too thick a layer may change the door closure, and too narrow may leave missing support. The tape does not fix a warped frame or a misaligned lock.
Separate the fibre and the adhesive layer
The manufacturer specifies continuous operation for fiberglass up to 550°C and brief temperature rises up to 600°C. The self-adhesive backing has a declared resistance up to 180°C. Do not assign it a higher value just because it is part of the same product.
Vitcas rope adhesive can be used for proper durable bonding according to the instructions. Check the requirements of the variant and substrate material. The selection should correspond to the actual sealing, and not rely on covering any spot with additional glue.
Check the assembly before heating
Prepare the surface by removing old loose residues according to the instructions. Maintain the intended tape placement and required bonding steps. Check the closure without forcing hinge movement or lock pressure.
After preparing for work and cooling down, inspect the ends and corners again. Record the width, thickness, and glue used. If the tape is coming off at only one point, check the pressure and condition of the substrate instead of automatically replacing the entire perimeter with thicker material.
